New Book!

Over spring break I started a new book called "Each Little Bird That Sings" by Deborah Wiles. In this book, it tells the story through a little girls perspective. A little girl who lives in a funeral home and must deal with the worst thing possible every waking second of her life- death. She writes hundreds of obituaries day in and day out, and hasn't had to deal with her own family death quite yet. Little does she know, her uncle is about to face death. He was so cheerful and such an upbeat person that she didn't see this coming. He dies instantly from a heart attack and "is in a better place now". Right after dealing with that dreadful death, her great-great aunt Florentine passed away gardening. Comfort, the little girl, is happy that her great-great aunt Florentine died doing something she loved- planting tomatoes- something her uncle enjoyed. A couple days before her aunts funeral, she asks her friend Declaration to meet up with her at their "secret rock" hiding spot in the woods. Declaration is a little more girly-girl then Comfort, and tells Comfort that she no longer wants to hike up the rock to meet her anymore. She said she would attend her aunts funeral, but that it'd be the last one because it wasn't very lady like to see the dead. Comfort was not very comforted by Declarations decision, but she had to respect that she's growing into a woman, and know's that she shouldn't stand in the way of that.
